showreelThe following films are select extracts from recent commissions undertaken by Number 9 Productions:
Sompting Abbotts Preparatory School
We were asked to produce two promotional films for Sompting Abbotts - one for a 'DVD prospectus' and another shorter version for online viewing. Using a natural documentary approach, we authentically captured the warmth, beauty and friendly atmosphere and of this family run school in Sussex.
The Invisible Woman
A short documentary about an artist’s subversive battle against a media, apparently reluctant to allow women to age naturally. Made for Four Docs, the film was shown on Channel 4’s 3 minute wonder slot.
Breaking the Cycle
A documentary, commissioned by The Prince’s Trust, which looks at more efficient and economic alternatives to custodial sentences for young offenders in The UK. The film, which was championed by HRH Prince of Wales, is shown regularly at conferences and discussions dealing with youth crime, and particularly supported by the then Home Secretary, John Reid, as well as the wider Home Office.
The RAF & Youth Sports
Part of a promotional film, undertaken for The Central Office of Information, which highlights the key involvement the Royal Air Force have in sponsoring youth sports. The film clearly and creatively demonstrates how the RAF help develop sports from grassroots up to professional level, and how the RAF benefit in return.
Improving Integration & Cohesion
An extract from a film which was jointly commissioned by The Commission on Integration & Cohesion and The Prince’s Trust. Following the murder of a Kurdish man on the Red Road estate in Glasgow, Number 9 Productions were tasked with visiting deprived areas of the country where difficulties have arisen with young people assimilating with the wider community. The sometimes surprising and uncomfortable findings from around the UK have now been presented to Ruth Kelly, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
South of England Show
Part of an ITV documentary covering the South of England show, held every summer in Ardingly.
RAF Basketball Final Fours
Highlights from the “Final Fours” youth basketball championships in The UK, sponsored by The RAF. The soundtrack was commissioned by Number 9 Productions.
Bela Emerson
Excerpt from a concert film for experimental cellist, Bela Emerson, taken from the Brighton Live festival.
Shoreham Airshow
Another excerpt from a short documentary produced for ITV. The film takes a light-hearted and irreverent look at the annual airshow in Shoreham, West Sussex.
RAF Rugby Festival
Highlights from part of The RAF’s Junior Rugby Festival, which was held in Bangor, North Wales. The sports highlights are streamed online by The RAF and generate considerable interest for the RAF as a career option.
